Summer Vacation Part 1: Utah/Green Family Reunion

There is no way to do justice to our awesome summer this year, but I will attempt to sum it up since it was such a blast and I don't want to forget all the fun things we were able to do and all the people we were able to see. Soon after we knew when Cameron would be starting grad school, we decided that we wanted to go home for an extended period of time, since it would probably be the last time for a while. We decided that we would go home from June 25th until August 3rd(we had to come back before Grant turned two on the 7th, so we didn't have to pay for a ticket for him). Cameron worked LOTS of LONG hours and tons of overtime the months of May and June and then was officially done on June 23rd! We flew out on the 25th. We flew into Salt Lake City to visit some of my cousins and also for the Green Family Reunion that would be a few days later. We stayed with my cousin Staci and had a blast getting to hang out with "baby Mile" as Grant called him(Miles). It was also my cousin Garrett's birthday, so we had a fun BBQ with him and his wife, Stephanie and Aaron, and Grandma and Grandpa McCoy.

On our way to Utah!

Grant was slightly eager to get on the first plane. He kept trying to join a family who was in line a ways ahead of us.

It was so nice to have the i pad and that Grant was old enough to actually want to watch some movies on it.

Since living in Ohio, we have all become seasoned flyers and I always get Grant a few new toys to keep him happy on the long flights. Here he is putting together his new Mr. Potato head.

I also got this mini white board at the $1 spot at Target. It was a good purchase as well.

Grant was drawing on it until he literally fell asleep mid line

We thought this was hilarious, but we got some looks from a few people who looked like maybe they thought it was child abuse. We had SO much stuff since we were going to be gone for about 6 weeks, so we had to have Grant hold his own carseat as we got all our luggage out to the car.

Grant was a WILD man that first night we stayed at Staci and Matt's house. Because of the time change, he stayed up WAY WAY past his bedtime and I think he was just a little hyper and loving all the attention he was getting.
He had a blast playing with Garrett. They played some game where they chucked a stuffed animal back and forth at each other and Grant loved it!

"baby Mile"

It was super hot there and with how crazy he was being, Grant worked up quite the sweat. We ended up stripping him down to his diaper.

I think Grant was a little overstimulated from all the excitement because that night he woke up around 3am just SCREAMING and would NOT calm down for ANYTHING. It freaked me out and he was convulsing almost like he was having a seizure. I was about ready to take him to the hospital because I had NEVER seen him do anything even close to that before. I ended up walking up and down the streets of Provo with him and trying to show him the lights and cars and he FINALLY calmed down, after about an hour or so. We let him watch a disney movie with us on the couch until we all fell back asleep and then we put him back in the crib. So weird...

Giving Miles a hug

Grant got spoiled by Aunt Staci and while I was in the bathroom dealing with my lovely morning sickness, she made him the popcorn for breakfast that he had requested. He loved it!

Hanging out with Miles

I think this picture was just after we got to the cabins we would be staying in for the 4 days of the family reunion. It was a SUPER windy road up to the cabins and Grant watched a movie on the drive. As soon as he got out of the car, Grammy(Cameron's mom) was there to help get him out. He gave her a big hug and then threw up ALL over her, himself, the car and Cameron. We hosed everything down and everyone headed in to change their clothes. He seemed to feel fine the rest of the evening, so I'm pretty sure it was just carsickness. This was after he was washed up and changed into clean clothes.

Making friends with Aunt Marsha.

That evening we all went on a walk. There was a cool path that was in the wooded area nearby and it also looped around a little lake. Grant was hilarious and as usual, he had to "nun"(run) the ENTIRE time. He would just keep telling everyone that he was "nunning" and he seriously didn't stop till we went inside. I think they said one loop was a mile and lucky Uncle Sean and Papa and Mimi(what Grant says instead of Grammy) took Grant around the loop TWICE. He loved it and I think everyone enjoyed watching him and his nonstop energy.

on our way to Olympic Park in Park City. We pulled over on the drive to look at the view. Super nice!

Cameron trying out the slide thing(I can't remember what it's called)

Gearing up to do the bobsled! This was actually really cool. you had to pay extra and sign all these waivers, but you got to go in an actual olympic bobsled with a professional driver. They time you doing the course, and they got the 2nd fastest time of the day!I think they were clocked going well over 70mph!

 They're off!

Grant loved having so many cousins around to play with him and in this case, dive out of the way when he was "passing" the ball to them.

they would all gather in a circle and the game was that you never knew where Grant was going to throw it.

cute little bums!

I LOVE this picture. Tyler Russon was so nice and loved to play with/help Grant. Here he is reading to Grant. Plus, I love this picture because I think they look so much alike!

We had a super fun day at the park where each family had come up with an "olympic game" for everyone to compete in. Here is the marshmallow shooting station.

After we were done with the games at the park, we all headed over to a fun pool to swim until dinner!

Grant loved it and was having a blast until he realized it was way past his nap time and he fell asleep WHILE swimming in the pool.

I got out with him and just let him sleep till we were ready to leave

Grant also became good friends with Will Green. Grant thought he was so funny!

It was such a fun-filled week with all the Greens and it went WAY too fast! We loved getting to see everyone and catch up for a bit. We are already looking forward to the next one!

We stayed in Utah for two extra nights to spend some time with Sean and Melissa before they moved to New Mexico for an internship.

Here is everyone playing at the pool in the hotel to stay cool. It was HOT!

It was fun to spend time with all of the Lovinger family (minus Tyler who had to work and Scottie who is on his mission in Brazil). We also got to take an awesome tour of the BYU athletic department while we were there. We left early Sunday morning to make the drive up to Spokane! Grant was exhausted from the week and in a bit of a bad mood, but overall the drive wasn't too bad.
